 excellent driver but has limitations, This review is from: Electrovoice EVM12DLX Super Power 12IN. Woofer (Electronics) Let me say first that I am well pleased with the performance of this driver for my application. I am using the EVM12DLX in a SWR WorkingPro-12 bass combo rig. This is used by me for a 4 string bass an acoustic/electric guitar and keyboards. The original driver (Eminence) was overall well suited for this application but I felt that it lacked the clarity that the amp was capable of. Being aware that speaker design is always a compromise and when manufacturers spec out a product, cost points have to be maintained, so the use of a premium driver like the EV probably wouldn't keep the WP-12 at the desired price point. The EV is markedly more defined in its reproduction for all of the previously mentioned uses, over the stock Eminence driver, however there is a pronounced loss of bass response for the frequencies below, what I would estimate 80Hz. For my application I was aware of the frequency specification beforehand and supplemented the system with a EVM18MT 18" driver in a band pass... Read more |
